Orlando City Acquires Honduran U-20 National Team Defender Devron García

Devron García Signing

ORLANDO, Fla.—Jan. 27, 2016— Orlando City SC has acquired Devron García from Club Deportivo Victoria of the Honduran First Division, pending ITC and Visa approval, the Club announced today. Garcia was acquired as a discovery signing. Per club and Major League Soccer policy, terms of the deal will not be disclosed.

The Honduran U20 National Team defender and midfielder began his professional career with CD Victoria in 2013, playing in 39 fixtures and notching three goals. He has featured for the Honduran National Team’s U17 and U20s—including appearances for the 2013 U17 World Cup in United Arab Emirates and 2015 U20 World Cup in New Zealand where he wore the Captain’s armband.

“We are thrilled to bring Devron on board,” said Head Coach Adrian Heath. “He’s a young, talented and versatile player with a lot of potential to grow into a strong asset for the team.”

Garcia joins fellow countryman, forward Bryan Róchez, with the Lions.

Orlando City opens its 2016 Major League Soccer campaign at home against Real Salt Lake on Mar. 6 in the Orlando Citrus Bowl. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. ET.
