MLS NEXT U17: Lions secure three wins over Charlotte, Atlanta United and Toronto

It was a successful two weekends for the Young Lions in MLS NEXT play this past weekend as they managed three wins, one of them down a man.

After seeing a player sent off just before the first half ended, the U17s were still able to manage a 2-0 win over Charlotte FC, thanks to a brace from 15-year-old Gustavo Caraballo. Their second match against Atlanta United was a bit more straightforward, with Zinedine Rodriguez netting the lone goal in a 1-0 win.

A week later, the team traveled up to Toronto and took down the Canadian side, 1-0, thanks to the lone goal from Colin Guske.

With their result, the team has earned nine out of a possible nine points in MLS NEXT and has won eight out of their nine games this season.

Next weekend, the Young Lions will take on the New York Red Bulls out in New Jersey on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 10 a.m. ET.

MLS NEXT U15: Lions get point in game vs. Atlanta, Toronto

It was a tough start to the weekend for the U15s as they dropped their first game on Saturday to Charlotte FC, 2-1, with Ryan Basbae scoring the lone goal for the Young Lions at home. The Young Lions rebounded in their next game, though, drawing with Atlanta United by a 1-1 scoreline. Zach Olah managed to get the lone goal.

This past weekend, the Young Lions secured another point, this time on the road in Canada against Toronto FC. It was a 2-2 scoreline by the final whistle, with a goal from Zach Olah and an own goal.

Just like the U17s, the U15s will play in New Jersey against the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 12:15 p.m. ET.
