ORLANDO, Fla. (Oct. 8, 2026) — Orlando City B has signed Orlando City Academy forward Matthew Belgodere to a long-term MLS NEXT Pro contract with MLS options, the Club announced today. Belgodere becomes the latest Orlando City Academy product to sign a professional contract with the club after advancing through its player development pathway.
“Matthew has earned this opportunity through his commitment, consistency and continued development within our Academy and OCB environments,” said Ricardo Moreira, Orlando City SC General Manager and Sporting Director. “He has shown the ability to compete and make an impact against experienced professionals at a young age, and we believe he possesses the mentality and potential to continue growing within our organization. This signing reflects the strength of our player development pathway, and we're excited to see Matthew take this next step in his career.”
Belgodere made his professional debut on March 2, 2026, against Huntsville City FC and went on to make 25 appearances, including 15 starts, for the Lions during the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro season. The 16-year-old recorded five goals and two assists in the campaign, scoring his first professional goal on June 7 against Carolina Core FC.
The signing of Belgodere reinforces Orlando City's commitment to developing talent from within, as the Club continues to provide academy players with opportunities to advance through its player development pathway and into the professional ranks.
