Jason Kreis: Kaká Had ‘Special’ Performance Against Chicago

On Sunday night, Orlando City earned a 2-2 draw against the Chicago Fire in a sweltering afternoon match at Toyota Park. Captain Kaká gave an absolutely stellar performance, lighting up the field with an assist and a goal of his own. Once again, he proved why he is the leader of this team.

The Fire got an early goal on Orlando City in the sixth minute, but Kaká helped Forward Cyle Larin find the equalizer just three minutes later. Kaká chipped a pass over the defense to Larin, who pushed past the defender to finish the play. Kaká earned a goal of his own after Larin’s header in the 32nd minute bounced off the post, and Kaká tapped it in. Kaká has four goals and eight assists on the season.

Head Coach Jason Kreis praised his captain’s performance after the game. “Really really good, really really good,” Kreis said. “Talking about energy levels, he worked extremely hard tonight on both sides of the ball, got himself in good positions defensively and obviously when he got the ball he was special.”

Kaká has earned three of his eight assists in his last three games. He’s on fire, and has been essential to Orlando City as they transition into the Jason Kreis era. He’s a leader, and his success on the field is crucial to the team’s success as a whole.

“We will need him to continue those types of performances,” Kreis said after the match in Chicago. “If he does, if the guys continue to improve little bit by little bit, we are going to be fine.”

Orlando City travels to Colorado next weekend for a match against the Rapids, before returning to Camping World Stadium to take on Toronto FC on Wednesday, August 24th.
