Orlando Pride at Washington Spirit

When: Sunday, August 23rd, 4:00 p.m. ET

Where: Audi Field, Washington, D.C.

TV: ESPN2

As the Pride head north to take on the Spirit, here are five things to watch for:

Road Rules

The Pride heads to Audi Field looking to continue a unique trend in the series. The road team has won each of the last three regular-season meetings between Orlando and Washington, including Orlando’s three straight league victories in the nation’s capital dating back to 2023. Another win would make the Pride just the second club in NWSL history to win four consecutive regular-season matches away to the Spirit.

Audi Advantage

Few visiting teams have been as comfortable at Audi Field as the Pride. Orlando is unbeaten in its last four trips to Washington’s home venue, posting three wins and a draw while scoring nine goals. Multiple current Pride players, including Marta, Barbra Banda, Angelina, Kerry Abello, Summer Yates and Julie Doyle, have already found success in front of goal at Audi Field.

Defensive Details

Despite the result in Portland, Orlando’s defensive organization remained on display. The Pride did not concede a single corner kick, marking the seventh regular-season match in club history in which opponents failed to earn a corner, with the Pride having won four of those seven matches. It was also the first time since September 2024 that the Pride did not concede a corner kick in a match.

Second-Half Specialists

Jacquie Ovalle’s goal against Portland marked Orlando’s eighth consecutive regular-season goal scored after halftime. The stretch is the club’s longest such run in nearly a decade and highlights a group that continues to find ways to impact matches as they progress.

A New Brazilian Chapter

Saturday’s match also introduced a new attacking option for Orlando as Brazilian international Gabi Nunes made her Pride debut. The forward arrives with extensive experience across Brazil, Spain and England, along with 118 professional club goals to her name.

Milestone Tracker:

  • Goalkeeper Anna Moorhouse is two saves away from 300 regular-season saves, all of which have come with the Pride.
  • Head coach Seb Hines is one win away from becoming the fifth NWSL coach to record 50 career regular-season wins, all with one club.
