The Captain’s Return: “He’s The Leader Of This Group”

Captain Returns

Orlando City’s 4-1 victory over the Portland Timbers marked the return of Orlando City captain Kaká, who missed the first three games of the season with a thigh injury. “He just led from the front,” Head Coach Adrian Heath said after the game. “You can see what we’ve been missing in the past few games.”

Kaká’s stellar performance included two assists and one goal from the star midfielder. “It was amazing,” Kaká said with a smile. “I’m so happy with this game and proud of the team and everyone’s game.”

Kaká’s presence wasn’t just felt in the technical aspects of the game. The team played better, the fans chanted louder; everything seemed to come together with the captain back in command. “He’s the leader of this group,” Coach Heath said. “He’s going to be a big part of this season.”

“I want to improve my numbers from last season,” Kaká said. “But most importantly I want to help the team first.” Kaká and his teammates are definitely off to a strong start, undefeated in their first four games and finishing the weekend at the top of the table. Their work is only beginning, but for now, Kaká is going to enjoy the victory.

“I don’t have the words to say how happy I am today,” Kaká said. “I’ve been out for three weeks and three games and to be back and score my first goal is amazing.”
