Orlando City U17's and U19's In Playoff Action This Week

DA Playoffs

It has been a successful first year for Orlando City’s youth partnership with Montverde Academy, but the best is yet to come. Orlando City’s U17’s and U19s have both qualified for this week’s playoffs in San Diego.

“As we work to implement our playing philosophy into the Orlando City Development Academy, I have been quite pleased with the results thus far with the U15s, U17s and U19s since we began in January,” said Academy Director Mike Potempa.

This week’s event in San Diego will be the largest even in the history of the Development Academy. Hosted at the SoCal Sports Complex in Oceanside, CA, the Complex will feature the Boys’ Summer Showcase, Playoffs and Quarterfinal Knockout Rounds.

Orlando City will be looking to impress on the big stage.

“With the U19s and U17s both qualifying for the playoffs in San Diego, and Luc Granitur from the U15s getting called into the United States National Team camp for the first time, our work is now beginning to show,” said Academy Director Mike Potempa. “We are also extremely excited with the talent we have observed in the U12, U13, and U14 age groups and are anxiously awaiting the opportunity to have them join with the other age groups on the campus of Montverde Academy in August. With what we see so far, the future is extremely bright for the youth development movement here at Orlando City SC.”

While not a playoff format, Orlando City’s U15’s will also be in town to take part in the Summer Showcase.
