1. Orlando City are streaking! The Lions come away with their third straight win and second straight home shutout as they take down Toronto FC, 3-0.Â
2. With games coming thick and fast, the Lions switched out a few players in their starting lineup, opting to rest captain Robin Jansson, midfielder Eduard Atuesta and others, with a big match coming up next Wednesday. It allowed guys who haven't gotten much playing time such as Iago, Zakaria Taifi, Tyrese Spicer and Marco Pašalić to get some run against a very hot Toronto team.
3. It took about half an hour before Orlando thought they had taken the lead, thanks to a Walker Zimmerman own goal, but, after video review intervened, it was deemed that Orlando players were offside and impeded the play, negating the fluke own goal. It was the first of two overturned calls against Orlando, with the other coming in first half stoppage time, after a penalty was called and overturned.
4. It took about another 15 minutes, but Orlando was able to take the lead right on the stroke of halftime. Just as the clock ticked over into stoppage time, Zakaria Taifi was able to pick out a sprinting Antoine Griezmann on the back post, who stabbed home his eighth goal of the MLS season.
5. The goal also marked his fifth straight match with a goal, which is a new Club record for most games in a row with a goal in one season. The Frenchman now has nine goals across all competitions and is on an incredible run of form at the perfect time for the Lions.
6. As the second half started, Orlando were forced to ride their luck a bit as the half wore on. A few saves from Maxime Crépeau and a few clear-cut chances that Toronto could not get on target somehow kept the score at 1-0 in favor of the Lions.
7. Finally, the Lions were able to double their lead in the 82nd minute. Wilder Cartagena fizzed a cross-field ball and picked out Harvey Sarajian on the other side of the pitch. After beating Raheem Edwards twice and regaining possession, the rookie pushed into the attack and passed the ball to Daryl Dike. He then fed the ball back to Sarajian, who hit the ball far post and beat Galvan, scoring his first goal in MLS play.
8. As the game wore down, Orlando was able to add the cherry on top, thanks to Iván Angulo. After Justin Ellis got on a counterattack, he fed Angulo in on goal. The winger took a touch in the box, fired the ball past Galvan in goal and scored in his second straight game. It's now his third goal this season to go along with his nine assists.
9. The win now pushes the team's undefeated run to five matches, along with a three-match win streak. The Lions are solidly in sixth in the MLS Eastern Conference with just nine games left in the season.
10. Now the Lions will head into their biggest game of the year as they head to Ohio to take on the Columbus Crew in the U.S. Open Cup semifinal
