OCB Preview TOR

Orlando City B Begins 3-Game Road Trip in Toronto

ORLANDO, Fla. (June 13, 2017) – One week following a draw with the Rochester Rhinos, Orlando City B (4-4-4, 16 points) travels to the Ontario Soccer Centre to take on Toronto FC II (1-7-5, 8 points) on Wednesday, June 14, at 12:00 p.m. ET.

“When I look at Toronto, I see a really, really good team,” OCB Head Coach Anthony Pulis said. “They’ve got some talented young players who are very, very dangerous, especially in attacking areas. We know we had a good performance against them last time, but what happened at Orlando City Stadium a couple months ago is going to have no bearing whatsoever on Wednesday afternoon.”

Wednesday’s game will be the fourth all-time matchup between OCB and Toronto. OCB picked up its first ever win in Orlando City Stadium on April 4 in a 3-1 win over Toronto FC II. Paul Clowes, Hadji Barry and Lewis Neal scored in the match. The two teams split last year’s season series with a win apiece.

Orlando City B drew the Rochester Rhinos 1-1 at home last week after Barry scored in the 23rd minute. It was his second goal in as many games and his third of the season. First Team goalkeeper Josh Saunders made his Orlando City SC debut and finished with four saves, including back-to-back stops late in the match.

Pierre Da Silva is tied for second in the United Soccer League (USL) with five assists. Earl Edwards, Jr. is second in the USL with 37 saves. Barry, Richie Laryea and Albert Dikwa each lead the team with three goals.

Toronto FC II hasn’t won since its season opener and currently sits in last place in the Eastern Conference. In their last match on June 10, Toronto drew the Pittsburgh Riverhounds 1-1 at home. Orlando City B visited the Riverhounds on June 3 and left with a 2-1 victory.

Toronto goalkeeper Angelo Cavalluzzo has 31 saves while posting three clean sheets. Ryan Telfer, Malik Johnson, Tsubasa Endoh and Luca Uccello lead Toronto with one goal each.

The match is the first of two consecutive midday games for OCB. The Lions return to Canada next week to take on Ottawa Fury FC on Tuesday, June 20, at 11 a.m. OCB then visits the Rochester Rhinos on June 23 before returning to Orlando City Stadium on Saturday, July 1, to host FC Cincinnati at 8:30 p.m. ET.
