Orlando City Won't Settle For Draws at Home

Draws

In his postgame press conference following Orlando City’s 2-2 draw against Sporting Kansas City, Jason Kreis made it clear that the expectation is to win, especially at home.  The players believe it, the coaches believe it, and the fans are unquestionably behind the team.

“Our objective is always going to be to have three points, to go after three points at home, but sometimes we’ll have to settle for one.”, Kreis explained to reporters.  A draw against Sporting Kansas City is not a poor result.  They are a quality team with strong defensive foundation and impactful, creative players up front.  Kreis credited SKC’s quality in his press conference.  However that does not take away from the disappointment in the locker room after failing to secure three points at Orlando City Stadium.

After the match Cyle Larin talked about always pushing for three points at home.  “All the players are devastated that we didn’t get this win, but we’ll improve from [it]”, Larin told a reporter following Saturday night’s draw.  Larin also talked about the growing chemistry between himself and Carlos Rivas.  “It’s getting better every week.  We’ll keep working [on it] both defensively and offensively.”  The Colombian placed a left-footed cross on a silver platter for Larin to side foot into the back of the net, which tied the match at 1-1 early in the first half.

At the end of the day, there are plenty of positives to take away from Saturday’s match.  A point is a point, and it helps Orlando City as far as maintaining a playoff position in the Eastern Conference.  The players are frustrated with the result, but must have a short memory as the Lions travel out west to take on San Jose mid-week.
