This past weekend was a great one for the city of Orlando and the color purple.
34,000 fans packed Camping World Stadium to watch Orlando City SC fall to an early 1-goal deficit against the Montréal Impact. They were in for a treat, however, as Cyle Larin and Kaká connected for two scores and City stormed back to win 2-1 and remain undefeated at home.
The Pride marched into Houston and defeated the Dash 1-0, posting their third consecutive victory and remaining in contention for the NWSL playoffs. Defender Kristen Edmonds scored in the 81st minute and keeper Ashlyn Harris locked down the goal for her third shutout on the season.
Orlando City B welcomed the reigning USL champions from Rochester to Melbourne, Florida. OCB beat the Rhinos 2-1 behind two goals from former UCF player Hadji Barry and a great defensive effort from Conor Donovan in his first full match back from a knee injury.
The weekend sweep for Orlando City teams is the first in the franchise’s history. However, with the high level of play and both established and burgeoning talent on each team’s roster, it is unlikely to be the last.
All three teams look to continue their winning form with games this week. Orlando City plays Wednesday night against the Philadelphia Union. The Pride takes on FC Kansas City in Missouri and OCB hosts the Charlotte Independence on Saturday.
