1. A first win in Atlanta since 2023! Antoine Griezmann's two goals help lead the Lions to back-to-back wins over the past five days with a 3-2 road win over Atlanta United.
2. On short rest, the Lions started the majority of the players who played the last match against San Diego, with just one change: MartÃn Ojeda, getting his first start since before the World Cup break. While he didn't get on the score sheet, he played a valuable role in getting all three points tonight.
3. The start to the game, however, was a little less than desirable. In what was ruled an own goal off David Brekalo, the Lions unfortunately put themselves in a hole just seven minutes into the match. Thankfully, for Orlando, the goal didn't dictate the eventual result.
4. Just about 20 minutes later, Orlando found the equalizer. It was a French Connection for the Lions as midfielder Joran Gerbet whipped a cross into the box towards the near post. Antoine Griezmann crashed the box and got a toe on the ball, guiding it past Atlanta goalkeeper Lucas Hoyos and in. It was Grizi's fifth goal in his past four matches and got Orlando right back into the match.
5. Orlando got to the locker room at halftime with the score level, and it held that way for just about 13 minutes before the Lions were able to take the lead. Off a play that was originally flagged for offside, a long ball from Robin Jansson was able to find a sprinting MartÃn Ojeda in the box. With some good composure, the Argentine was able to square the ball to his right as the goalkeeper charged him, where Iván Angulo was waiting to tap the ball into an open goal. After the referee went to the monitor, the goal was given, and the Lions took the lead on the road.
6. It was an important moment for Ojeda, who had squandered a few chances earlier in the match when he was able to get in behind the back line. As he still works his way back to full match fitness after missing the past two months, getting a healthy and in-form MartÃn Ojeda, alongside all the other attacking threats Orlando has, and this team could be one of the danger ones heading into the final stretch of the season.
7. 20 minutes later, the Lions were able to double the lead thanks to the main man himself. Wilder Cartagena, who could just come on to the pitch moments ago, forced a turnover in the Lions' attacking third. After getting the ball to Griezmann, the Frenchman played a give-and-go combination with Justin Ellis, who threaded the ball into the box for Griezmann to finish. As a cherry on top, Grizi hit the Heisman pose to celebrate his brace.
8. It's yet another assist for Justin Ellis to Antoine Griezmann, now the third straight game with that combination. For Griezmann, it's now six goals in his past four games as he's hitting his stride at the perfect time for the Lions.
9. It got a bit nervy at the end for Orlando after conceding in the sixth minute of stoppage time. A header from Atlanta that ended up hitting off of Tyrese Spicer and into his own net cut the lead to one. Thankfully, for the Lions, there wasn't enough time to find an equalizer, and Orlando was able to take all three points from their rival.
