Around MLS: Morris Rolling, Controversy in Columbus

Kamara Around MLS

Jordan Morris on a Roll

Seattle’s young forward Stephen Morris has been on a tear recently, scoring goals in four consecutive games. He is the third rookie in MLS history to score in four straight, joining Damani Ralph in 2003 and Patrick Mullins in 2014. He hasn’t reached Cyle Larin’s rookie goal scoring record of 17 yet, though. He does, however, lead the Sounders with four goals.

Gio’s Golazo

Morris’ hot streak may only be topped by LA’s Giovani Dos Santos. The LA Galaxy Designated Player scored a gorgeous goal off the volley on Sunday, helping to lift the Galaxy over New England. It was Dos Santos’ fifth goal in four games and the Mexican international also has three assists in the same span.

Rapids Remain Perfect

The Colorado Rapids defeated Real Salt Lake 1-0 on Saturday, riding USMNTer Jermaine Jones’ 47th minute goal to the three points. The Rapids are now 5-0 at home, with wins over LA, Toronto, New York, Seattle and RSL. Orlando heads to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on August 20.

Controversy in Columbus

The Columbus Crew left two points on the table after giving up a 3-0 lead to Montreal on Saturday, but it was a made penalty kick that had everyone talking after the game. With Kei Kamara one goal short of his first career hat trick, Federico Higuaín took the ball from his hands and scored his own second goal of the game, just five minutes after his first.
