Orlando City Trades Donovan Ricketts to LA Galaxy for 2016 Second Round SuperDraft Pick

ORLANDO – JULY 30, 2015 – Orlando City SC today announced it has traded goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts to the LA Galaxy for a second round pick in the 2016 Major League Soccer (MLS) SuperDraft. Additional details were not disclosed.

Ricketts joined Orlando City after being selected first overall in the 2015 MLS Expansion Draft from the Portland Timbers. The veteran goalkeeper started ten matches for the Lions early in the 2015 season, including the March 8 inaugural MLS match against New York City FC.  Overall, Ricketts posted two shutouts and 21 saves for Orlando City in 2015.
"Donovan became an important part of the history of Orlando City,” said General Manager Paul McDonough. “We are very grateful for his contributions to the Lions – both on the pitch and in the community – and we are glad we can facilitate his desire to return to Los Angeles to continue his career. We wish Donovan the very best in the future.”

UPDATE: April 17, 2020 - Based on the most recent government guidance, Major League Soccer has extended the postponement of its matches until at least June 8. Major League Soccer remains focused on playing the entire 2020 season, and is evaluating all options, including pushing back the end of the season and playing MLS Cup in December or later. Throughout this process, MLS will continue to prioritize the safety of our fans, players, employees and partners and to coordinate with federal and local public health authorities as well as other sporting organizations.
