The Story:

  • Former Pride player, Ali Krieger has the opportunity to return to Exploria Stadium after announcing retirement from the NWSL after the 2023 season. Krieger joined the Pride in 2017 and was traded to Gotham FC in 2021.
  • The Pride and Gotham step onto the pitch for their 20th square-off. Pride and Gotham will go head-to-head in an even match up with both teams totaling seven wins across their records. This match will serve as a league tie-breaker between the two clubs.
  • Rookie Messiah Bright notched her first professional goal with an assist from Erika Tymrak, who tallied her first assist of the 2023 campaign during the Pride's home opener, putting the Pride on the scoreboard.
  • In the match against Angel City, Goalkeeper Anna Moorhouse denied the opposition's penalty shot, keeping both teams level. In doing so, she became the first goalkeeper to save a penalty kick in the 2023 NWSL season and marked the Pride's eighth penalty save, serving as a league-high.

Quote of the Week:

“[Gotham is] going to have to bounce back from their game against OL Reign. They're very experienced, they’ve got some big names and we have to be mindful of that. We have to be aware of the threats and their qualities. But again, the focus is on ourselves. We have to bounce back, we need to get points on the table, we need to give the fans moments to be excited about as well and really show how far this team has come in the past weeks and months over preseason. So, again, it's another game that we feel we can go out and win and be competitive and build from that.” - Seb Hines, Orlando Pride head coach
