Major League Soccer has opened voting for the 2017 MLS All-Star Game. The match will be played at Toyota Park in Chicago against Real Madrid, and Orlando City is hoping to make an impact on this season’s roster. But they’ll need your help. Here are the top Orlando City players you should vote to send to the MLS All-Star Game. You can vote on the ballot at the bottom of this article.
Goalkeeper - Joe Bendik
Bendik has had a stellar season for Orlando City so far. He’s made 52 saves and earned five shutouts in fifteen matches so far this year. He recently earned back-to-back shutouts against D.C United and the Chicago Fire-- the first time Orlando City has earned back-to-back shutouts in team history. He’s regularly featured in MLS Save of the Week-- including this recent win for an incredible save against D.C United.
Defender- Jonathan Spector
Spector has made a noticeable impact since joining the Lions in the offseason. He’s a leader in the central defense, and has stepped up in critical moments, making multiple saves on the goal-line. He’s made five appearances in MLS’s Team of the Week since the start of the season.
Defender- Scott Sutter
Sutter has been an asset both defensively and offensively. He helps create chances while also fulfilling his defensive obligations. He has three assists on the season and was voted to MLS’s Team of the Week in Week Nine after Orlando City defeated the Colorado Rapids 2-0.
Midfielder- Will Johnson
Johnson has stepped up as a leader for Orlando City this season, taking on the role of captain while Kaká has been out with injury. He’s proved his versatility, performing in a variety of roles in the defense and midfield. He has scored one goal and earned three assists so far this season, and his fire has helped carry the team through difficult moments.
Midfielder- Kaká
Kaká has missed a lot of the season due to injury, but he always has an impact when he is on the pitch. After getting injured in the season opener, he returned to Orlando City as a substitute in the match against the Colorado Rapids. Within minutes, he scored his first goal of the season and guaranteed the win for Orlando, their fifth win in their new home. Kaká has a total of three goals this season.
