Orlando City Interim Head Coach Martín Perelman

Opening statement

“First of all, great effort from the players. I think we came to a difficult stadium and we fought and the players did an amazing effort. Of course, we wanted to win, like always, but again, I want to highlight the effort of the players.”

On the substitutes’ impact

“I think the players who came in did amazingly. They were able to maintain the level of energy. I think through the game there were different moments. I think we start the first probably 20, 25 minutes in a really good manner when we scored, not only compact and solid, but also controlling the game with the ball. I think we could score maybe one more goal there. Then in the second half, we knew they were going to try to attack more and that would allow spaces for counterattacks, which we had and we couldn't score. And then, the game is the game. And again, I think the effort of the players, in general, is fair to highlight.”

On Robin Jansson’s return from injury and substitution

“Robin [Jansson] was planned to leave the game at that moment, so he’s fine. He was coming back from a long period of time with inactivity, so we knew he wasn’t going to be able to complete the game. Of course, Iago’s substitution hurt us more, but we need to adjust with Adrián [Marín] and Tahir [Reid-Brown] in positions that we didn’t want, but that’s it.”

Orlando City SC Forward Marco Pašalić

Opening statement

“I’d say we started really good. We hadn't conceded a goal for 80 minutes, then we made the changes and that mistake happened, but it’s football. I’m happy that the team showed mentality today, that we showed that we can handle things after these big losses. And, I mean, on one side, I say this team didn’t deserve these losses in the past, so I’m not going to speak about it anymore. I look to the future, and we can connect the future games to this game today.”

On his goal

“We trained this, not only this week, but it’s something we tried to improve from training to training this last week and I give props to the team and to Martín [Perelman], the coach, that we have the patience after these losses and we come here with motivation. He motivates us, the team had their heads high, you know, we keep it high after these losses, and it was important to come here, and try to show that we can score goals. We created a lot of chances today, especially me. I could’ve scored one more goal. I’m sad about it, but the most important thing, in the last games we don’t create as many chances like today, so this is a good way to go.”

On Iván Angulo’s performance

“‘Ivancho’ [Angulo] had a big impact. Like last season, Ivancho did a great job, and especially today, [on the] defensive and offensive part. Like I said, everybody did their job today well. We played like a team. This is the most important thing. Ivancho is a big plus for this team, as a wingback or as a left wing. For me, it doesn’t matter, he does his job every time when he plays. He’s a great player, so we’re going to have a lot of fun with him in the future when we play as a team and try to connect the whole team in the game plan, then it’s going to look like today.”
