Stats & Storylines
- Orlando City returns from the international break having lost two matches in a row for the first time all season. Despite the short slide, the Lions still rank fourth in MLS in goals with 31 through 17 matches.
- Several Orlando City players featured prominently during the international break for their respective national teams:
- Alex Freeman started and played the full 90 minutes in the United States’ 2-1 defeat to Turkiye last Saturday. Freeman is expected to play a significant role for the U.S.M.N.T. during the CONCACAF Gold Cup, which starts for the Americans this Sunday afternoon in San Jose against Trinidad & Tobago.
- Pedro Gallese pitched back to back clean sheets as Peru played two scoreless draws with Colombia and Ecuador in CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying.
- Marco Pašalić, the first MLS player called into the Croatian national team, rewarded coach Zlatko Dalić’s faith with an assist off the bench in Croatia’s 7-0 rout of Gibraltar in UEFA World Cup qualifying last Friday. Pašalić also made a late cameo in Croatia’s second game, a 5-1 win over Czechia.
- David Brekalo started and played 90 minutes at right center back as Slovenia defeated Bosnia and Herzogovina 2-1 in a friendly on Tuesday. Brekalo appeared in the final moments in Slovenia’s other game, a 1-0 win over Luxembourg.
- Dagur Dan Thórhallsson played 30 minutes off the bench for Iceland in a 3-1 win over Scotland last Friday.
- In addition to the senior internationals, Orlando City was well-represented with the United States U18s. Colin Guske started in central midfield and OCB striker Justin Ellis scored the game-winner in second half stoppage time as the U.S. took down Australia 3-2 last Saturday to qualify the Americans for the final of the UEFA Friendship Cup. The U.S. sealed the deal with a PK win over Portugal in the final, with Ellis featuring in the starting XI and Guske coming off the bench.
- Orlando heads into the second half looking to replicate what it did down the stretch in 2024. In the final 17 regular season games of last year, Orlando City scored 42 goals and produced an 11-4-2 record, good for 35 points or 2.06 points per game.
- If you combine the second half of 2024 and the first half of 2025, Orlando City has scored 73 goals over its last 34 regular season games, which would shatter the single-season club record of 59 set last year. The Lions must score 29 goals in the final 17 regular season games this year to break the record.
- Orlando City was represented well in early All-Star voting. As of last count, Alex Freeman ranked first among right backs and Pedro Gallese was second among goalkeepers in balloting released Monday on the MLS website.

Meet the opponent: Colorado Rapids
- Orlando City returns to Colorado this Saturday for the first time since 2022. The teams last met in Orlando in 2023, when goals from Facundo Torres and Ramiro Enrique propelled the Lions to a 2-0 win over the Rapids.
- Orlando has achieved remarkable success against Colorado over the years. The Lions’ 2.13 points per game from the Rapids is their highest against any opponent in MLS regular season play (minimum two matches played). Colorado is one of the only opponents against whom Orlando City fared even better prior to Oscar Pareja’s arrival in 2020.
- Speaking of Pareja, the Orlando City head coach got his first chance at a top job with Colorado back in 2012. Pareja helped steer the Rapids into the playoffs in the second of his two seasons before returning to FC Dallas as head coach in 2024.
- Colorado has endured an up-and-down 2025 under Chris Armas, cruelly falling out of the CONCACAF Champions Cup on away goals to LAFC and most recently dropping two straight matches, including a 2-0 defeat to Austin last weekend. The Rapids enter Matchday 19 in the Western Conference’s final playoff spot.
- United States international attacking midfielder Djordje Mihailovic has shouldered the heaviest of the scoring burden for the Rapids this season. The 26-year-old Jacksonville native has 7 G/3 A in his second year in Denver and his first as club captain. Mihailovic has 18 G/17 A in 46 MLS regular season matches for Colorado.
