ORLANDO, Fla. (Dec. 9, 2022) — The Orlando Pride and midfielder Erika Tymrak have agreed to a new two-year contract, signing the player through the 2024 NWSL season, it was announced today. Tymrak rejoins the Pride after entering free agency earlier this offseason.

“Not only is Erika a strong, technical player that can contribute on the field, but she brings valuable veteran presence to our locker room. Having senior leaders to guide our younger players is very important for our team goals, and Erika is someone who we know understands and appreciates that responsibility,” Pride Head Coach Seb Hines said. “We’re excited that Erika has chosen to continue her career as part of the Pride and the project we are undertaking here in Orlando, and we look forward to seeing her back on the field in 2023.”

“I am absolutely thrilled to continue my career with the Pride as we promote this beautiful game and solidify our identity in this league. I’m excited to get back on the pitch and work towards bringing a championship to Orlando,” Tymrak said.

Tymrak made 15 appearances, including 10 starts during the 2022 regular season, with five additional appearances during the Challenge Cup. The University of Florida product recorded two assists, both of which came in the month of July during the Club’s seven-game unbeaten run.

A native of Detroit, Mich., Tymrak originally entered the league after being drafted in the second round (No. 11 overall) by FC Kansas City during the 2013 NWSL College Draft. She would go on and be named NWSL Rookie of the Year for the 2013 season. Tymrak would also play a vital role in helping FC Kansas City win back-to-back NWSL Championships in 2014 and 2015.

With 167 overall appearances across all NWSL competitions, Tymrak came out of retirement ahead of the 2021 season to join the Pride and has totaled 42 appearances in a Pride kit since.
