ORLANDO, Fla. (Dec. 10, 2025) – Orlando City SC has acquired $500,000 in 2026 General Allocation Money (GAM) from CF Montréal in exchange for defender Dagur Dan Thórhallsson, the Club announced today. The Lions could also receive up to an additional $125,000 in GAM contingent on Thórhallsson reaching predefined performance-based metrics. In addition, Orlando will retain a sell-on percentage on Thórhallsson in the event of a future transfer.
“Dagur has been an incredible professional for us over the past three seasons,” said Orlando City SC General Manager & Sporting Director Ricardo Moreira. “His dedication to the team, ability to embrace our culture, and knack for bringing every group together made him a joy to have in our locker room. We’re grateful for everything he’s given to the Club and wish him nothing but the best in this next chapter of his career.”
Thórhallsson, 25, arrived in Orlando in January of 2023 and went on to record eight goals and nine assists across all competitions for the Lions, making 70 starts in 116 appearances during that span. The Hafnarfjörður, Iceland, native started each game as Orlando City made a run to the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs Eastern Conference Final last year.
