ORLANDO, Fla. (June 25, 2025) – Orlando City SC homegrown defender Alex Freeman has been named to the 2025 MLS All-Star Game roster, the league announced today. At 20 years old, Freeman is set to be the youngest All-Star on this year’s team.
Freeman earned his spot through the league’s fan, media and player voting process, receiving the highest vote total among right backs. In the 2025 season so far, he has started 16 of 17 matches for the Lions, playing every minute of those starts. After entering the Club’s season opener as a second-half substitute, Freeman has since tallied four goals and one assist—his four goals are the most by any defender in MLS this year.
The Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., native has continued his breakout season on the international stage, representing the United States at the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup. Freeman has started all three Group Stage matches for the U.S. Men’s National Team, helping secure wins over Trinidad and Tobago (5-0), Saudi Arabia (1-0) and Haiti (2-1). With those results, the U.S. and Freeman topped Group D and are set to face Costa Rica in the quarterfinals this Sunday, June 29, at U.S. Bank Stadium.
With his selection, Freeman becomes the first Lion to be named an MLS All-Star since current goalkeeper Pedro Gallese and former Lions captain Nani in 2021, and the seventh All-Star selection in club history.
The best players in North America will take center stage at the 2025 MLS All-Star Game this summer, as the MLS All-Stars face a team of All-Stars from Mexico’s top soccer league, LIGA MX, on Wednesday, July 23, at 9 p.m. ET at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas. The highly anticipated match will be broadcast live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV in English, Spanish and French.
