Orlando City B Faces Quick Turnaround Against Rochester Rhinos

OCb Preview

ORLANDO, Fla. (June 6, 2017) - Four days after defeating the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, Orlando City B (4-4-3, 15 points) will face the Rochester Rhinos (4-1-3, 15 points) on Wednesday, June 7, at 7:30 p.m. ET at Orlando City Stadium.

“Rochester is going to be a difficult game. Historically they’re always a team that’s there or thereabouts,” OCB Head Coach Anthony Pulis said. “I have to give huge credit to Bob Lilley because every year he seems to put together a really well-organized team that’s defensively sound and dangerous on the break. I don’t think Wednesday night’s going to be any different. It’s going to be a really big game for us.”

In their last match, the Lions came back from a one-goal deficit to defeat the Riverhounds, 2-1. Former Lion Corey Hertzog opened the scoring in the 30th minute. Hadji Barry equalized in the 42nd minute, driving the ball past former Lions goalkeeper Trey Mitchell. Zach Ellis-Hayden scored the game-winner and his first professional goal in the 53rd minute. Earl Edwards, Jr. finished the match with a season-high eight saves.

This will be the third all-time meeting between OCB and Rochester. The Lions picked up a 2-1 win in Melbourne on May 22, 2016, in their expansion season. The teams then played to a scoreless draw in Rochester on July 10, 2016, as OCB picked up its third clean sheet of the season.

Orlando City B is 3-1-1 in its last five games, scoring five goals while allowing four and picking up three consecutive clean sheets from April 23 to May 13. Edwards Jr. leads the United Soccer League (USL) with 37 saves. Richie Laryea and Albert Dikwa lead the team with three goals. Pierre Da Silva is tied for second the USL with five assists.

The Rhinos are coming off a 1-0 win over FC Cincinnati on June 3. Goalkeeper Tomas Gomez made two saves and defender Bradley Kamdem Fewo scored his first professional goal.

Rochester has allowed one goal in its last four games and Gomez is tied for second in the USL with four clean sheets. Attacker Wal Fall leads the Rhinos with three goals while Christiano François and Kenardo Forbes lead the team with two assists.
