Orlando City Acquires Defender Seb Hines on Loan with Option to Extend

ORLANDO ā€“ February 24, 2015 ā€“ Orlando City Soccer Club has signed Middlesbrough defender Sebastian Hines on loan with an option to extend the Club announced today ā€“ pending receipt of his ITC. The addition of Hines strengthens the teamā€™s backline for the start of the 2015 Major League Soccer (MLS) season.

Per Club and league policy, additional terms were not disclosed.

ā€œWeā€™re very pleased to have Seb join us,ā€ said Head Coach Adrian Heath. ā€œHis experience will be very valuable for our teamā€™s competitive position in our first MLS season. We look forward to start working with him.ā€

Hines joins the Lions after spending half of the 2014 season on loan with Coventry in League One, featuring in nine matches.

The defender ā€“ who made his professional debut on January 16, 2007, for Middlesbrough against Hull City ā€“ has earned over 80 appearances in several English leagues ā€“ including the English Premier League, the Championship and League One for Middlesbrough, Derby County, Oldham Athletic and Coventry.

Additionally, Hines has 17 caps for Englandā€™s youth teams ā€“ featuring for the U-16, U-17 and U-19 teams. However, the center-back will not occupy an international slot as his father is an American citizen.
