BTN Pride Opener

The Pride will play the first of its twelve home matches this Saturday as they take on NWSL newcomers Utah Royals FC.

Marta was ranked by ESPN as the 9th most dominate athlete of the past two decades. Marta scored thirteen goals in her first season for the Pride, bringing her professional total to 487. Marta was also selected as the favorite to win NWSL MVP in a poll of league front office staff. She ranked above athletes such as Usain Bolt, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Tom Brady. We don't call her the GOAT for nothing.

The Orlando Pride found the back of the net 45 times last season — the most in NWSL. With Alex Morgan with the team for a full season and the additional of Sydney Leroux, it’s likely that total will rise in 2018. The Pride also lead the league in assists with 30.

The Pride scored on 34% of their 133 shots on goal last season. The teams efficiency on goal was second best in the league, trailing Seattle by only 1%.

The Pride added 7 news faces to the mix this offseason. Haley Kopmeyer, Sydney Leroux, Poliana, Christine Nairn, Carson Pickett, Emily Van Egmond, Lotta Ökvist and Shelina Zadorsky will all be valuable additions to the team.
