In the offseason, Racing Louisville FC agreed to terms with both of their top-five picks in the 2022 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL Draft). The Club signed their second overall pick in midfielder Jaelin Howell out of Florida State University, as well as midfielder Savannah DeMelo out of the University of Southern California. Both rookies have started every game in the 2022 NWSL regular season for Racing Louisville, with DeMelo scoring the game winning goal over the San Diego Wave and notching an assist against Angel City FC.
Racing Louisville enters the match coming off a 2-2 draw against the Washington Spirit. Prior to the match against the Spirit, Racing Louisville suffered three straight defeats, with nine of the club’s 14 goals allowed this season having come in their last four games.
Forward Nadia Nadim is coming off of a second-half brace in Racing Louisville's last game against the Washington Spirit. She has appeared in three games so far this season, scoring three goals. Nadim is working her way back into full fitness after suffering a season-ending ACL injury a year ago on Sept. 11 against the Pride at Exploria Stadium.
This is the first match between the two sides during the 2022 National Women’s Soccer League regular season. Last season, the two clubs squared off three times in the regular season with the teams sharing a 1-1-1 record. In the first game, the sides played to a 1-1 draw at Exploria Stadium, followed by 3-1 victory by the Pride at home in the following matchup. In their final matchup of the season, the scoreline stayed the same, but this time Racing Louisville earned the victory at Lynn Family Stadium.

The Nadim brace in Racing Louisville's last game against the Washington Spirit marked the first brace in the Club’s history. It also marked Nadim’s first multi-goal NWSL game since 2017 when she scored two for the Portland Thorns against the Boston Breakers.
