One of the off-season signings that has made an impact for the Red Stars is former Gamecock defender Tatumn Milazzo. Milazzo was announced as part of the 2021 pre-season squad for Chicago in February, then signed as a supplemental roster played in April. Milazzo recently scored her first professional regular season goal for the Red Stars against OL Reign. 

Recent Form 

The Red Stars are coming off a defeat against OL Reign on Sunday. Mal Pugh opened the scoring in the 14th minute for Chicago, but then the Reign scored three unanswered goals. Chicago defender Tatumn Milazzo did manage to pull one back for the Red Stars in the 69th minute, however Chicago would not be able to complete the comeback and fell 3-2.

Until Sunday’s defeat at the hands of the Reign, Chicago had not dropped a game since August 15th, going 2-0-3 in that stretch. Mal Pugh currently leads Chicago with four goals on the season, and also leads the Red Stars with four assists. Kealia Watt follows close behind with three goals and four assists. 

Head-to-Head

Orlando traveled to SeatGeek Stadium in August, where the two teams met for the first time since 2019. Jodie Taylor struck first for the Pride when she scored her first goal for the Club in the 15th minute. Sydney Leroux added the dagger in the 89th minute, doubling the lead for the visitors. Ashlyn Harris recorded three saves in the shutout.

The Orlando Pride tied their largest-ever road victory over the Chicago Red Stars in 2018 at SeatGeek Stadium, when the Pride scored five goals over Chicago’s two. Sydney Leroux recorded a brace in the match, with Alex Morgan, former Pride midfielder Dani Weatherholt and current Red Stars forward Rachel Hill each adding a finish of their own in the 5-2 victory for the side.
