ORLANDO – September 16, 2015
– Orlando City SC today provided an update on the progress made thus far in construction of its new downtown soccer stadium. Crews from Barton Malow, JCB, Votum, Barton Malow Concrete, Power Engineering Group, and Nash Plumbing have been on site, conducting underground work including foundation, infrastructure and utility installation. In addition, the Club announced that sales of its premium suites have been very brisk, with over half of the available inventory already sold for the new stadium.
With all 18,000 season tickets sold for the coming 2016 Major League Soccer (MLS) season, the suites provide the only season-long opportunity for fans or businesses looking to join the experience in Orlando City's new downtown home. Season Ticket Members have the opportunity to reserve their place in the new stadium.
"Work has begun in earnest on our new home," said Orlando City Founder and President Phil Rawlins. "Crews have started the underground construction and in the next several months, we expect to see the structure start to take shape. This is a very exciting time for the Club and our supporters, as demonstrated by the sold out season ticket allotment and strong demand for suites."
The current work in progress includes:
- Concrete foundations at the access tunnel in the northeast corner of the stadium,
- Installation of temporary utilities, and
- Installation of storm utilities on the east side of the project site.
In the coming weeks, dewatering will continue to allow for storm vault installation and additional foundation work for the north stand will commence. Future stadium updates will be provided throughout the project as construction continues to progress.
