By The Numbers: Clean Sheet Milestone

btn2021

31 - Seconds to glory

Orlando City welcomes FC Cincinnati to Exploria Stadium this Saturday, facing the Blue and Orange in its second home match of the season for the second straight year. Last season’s matchup got started with a bang, as Tesho Akindele ran onto a poor backpass from Nick Hagglund and slotted it home 31 seconds into the game. The goal currently stands as the fastest goal in Orlando City history.

0 - Triple zeroes

The Lions have posted back-to-back clean sheets to start the 2022 season, one of five teams in MLS yet to allow a goal this year. Orlando City has never recorded three consecutive clean sheets in a season in its MLS history, but it can achieve that landmark for the first time with a shutout of Cincinnati this weekend. Cincy has yet to score in 2022.

50 - Milestone for El Pulpo

Pedro Gallese is in line for his 50th Orlando City appearance across all competitions this Saturday. With his back-to-back clean sheets to start the season, Gallese has tied Joe Bendik’s Club record of 13 shutouts in 43 fewer games and will hold the record on his own with another. Gallese is also two wins from tying Bendik’s Club record of 25.

0.65 - Chasing success

It’s been a rough start to life in MLS for FC Cincinnati. With 60 points in 93 league games, the Blue and Orange have earned just 0.65 points per game through their MLS existence, finishing bottom of the table in each of their first three seasons. They don’t have to look too far for hope, though – the nearby Cincinnati Bengals football team went 33 years without a playoff win before reaching this year’s Super Bowl.
