Breaking Down the XI | Akindele Returns

Tesho Starts

Orlando City is set to take on the Colorado Rapids and James O’Connor will have nearly his full complement of players to work with today.

In goal, Brian Rowe will start. Rowe leads MLS in saves with 18.

The back 3 will consist of Robin Jansson, Lamine Sané and Carlos Ascues. Ascues moves back from the midfield this week to make room for Sebastián Méndez, returning from National Team duty, in the midfield.

Méndez will be joined by Sacha Kljestan and Nani. Nani is tied with eight other players for the MLS lead in assists with three.

On the wings, João Moutinho and Ruan will pair up for the third consecutive match.

Up top, Tesho Akindele returns from an injury sustained in the second match of the season. Akindele scored in Orlando’s season opener. He’ll be joined by Dom Dwyer who is off to a record start this season. Dwyer has started the season with a goal contribution (at least one goal or assist) in each of Orlando City’s first five games. He is the only player in MLS with a five-game goal contribution streak this season. It is also a personal record for Dwyer.

Starting XI: Rowe, Jansson, Sané, Ascues, Moutinho, Nani, Kljestan, Méndez, Ruan, Akindele, Dwyer.

Bench: Grinwis, Mueller, Rosell, Smith, Patiño, Colmán, Miller
