Golden Boot Race

U.S Open Cup Semi-Finals Kickoff

The Lamar Hunt U.S Open Cup semifinals kickoff tonight with the New England Revolution hosting the Chicago Fire. Chicago will look to advance to the finals for the seventh time, while New England will look to build on their short Open Cup history. The winner of that matchup will go on to face the winner of Wednesday nightā€™s matchup between FC Dallas and LA Galaxy. The final will be on Wednesday, September 21st.

Golden Boot Race

For the first time in a long time, David Villa is no longer #1 in the race for the MLS Golden Boot. Forward Sebastian Giovinco of Toronto FC earned a hat trick in Torontoā€™s 4-1 victory over the New England Revolution, sending him to the top of the rankings for the Golden Boot race. Orlando Cityā€™s own Cyle Larin is fifth in that race with 11 goals this season, just four goals behind Giovinco. At this point, itā€™s anyoneā€™s prize to take.

Matteo Mancosu Has Immediate Impact

Forward Matteo Mancosu has already started to make a name for himself in Montreal. The Italian soccer veteran has two goals in his first month with the Impact, including a goal in his first start for Montreal this past weekend. His solid strike gave Montreal the goal they needed to win the game. He proved what he can do to the club, to the league, and to the 20,000 fans that packed that stadium.
