Having been a professional soccer player for 14 years, Lions midfielder Antonio Nocerino has seen it all. Over his professional career, the midfielder has been a part of 13 different teams, from Italy to England. With that experience under his belt, the Italian has confidence in himself and his Orlando City teammates as they head into the final stretch of games in the season.

“The season has different moments,” Nocerino said after training Wednesday, “At the start, we played well, with intensity, with hunger. Now it’s important to keep our feet. I know I’m very happy when I win and I don’t worry when I lose. I have balance with that, because I have the experience, especially in this moment. The team plays with confidence, no stress, no worries. It’s not that simple, but in this moment, it’s important to play with a good mentality, with hunger, especially when you have the opportunity to play now, with two games at home.”

With 42 games played in his MLS tenure, Nocerino has become a locker room leader for the team. Mentoring young players, becoming a vocal on the training pitch and in games. His drive to help his team succeed is always noticeable on the pitch. With his presence and veteran leadership in the team, Nocerino believes in his teammates and their will to succeed.

“The team is united. We have a good staff, good players, good men. Saturday, I play for everyone. For a win.”

With the upcoming game on Saturday against the Columbus Crew, Nocerino has a clear focus for himself and for his team.

“Saturday I have only one objective. Three points.
