Orlando Regional Spelling Bee

Orlando City Soccer Club is excited to provide students and schools in Central Florida with the opportunity to participate in the 2022 Scripps National Spelling Bee, through the Orlando Regional Spelling Bee to be held at Exploria Stadium in February 2022. Students will have the chance to progress from school bees to district bees, and finally to the Orlando Regional Bee.

Eligibility:

Public, private, charter, and home school students up to 8th grade in Orange, Seminole, Volusia, Lake, Brevard, Sumter, and Marion counties are eligible to participate in the Orlando Regional Spelling Bee.

If your county is not listed, then you are eligible to participate in another regional Spelling Bee. For more information on how to find your Bee, go to spellingbee.com/contact.

The district bee will take place fully online, utilizing SNSB’s Online Testing Platform, unless otherwise communicated to Orlando City Soccer Club by each school district.

Timeline for Schools and Students:

  • 12/31/21 - Deadline for schools to enroll at spellingbee.com/enrollment
  • 01/01/22 - Regional Bee date will be announced no later than 01/01/2022
  • 01/21/22 - Deadline to conduct school spelling bees, Deadline to register school bee champions
  • 01/24/22 - Beginning of Orlando District Level Test window, 
  • 01/31/22 - Deadline for Orlando District Level Test
  • 02/01/22 - Top 50 scorers to be notified
  • 02/05/22 - Orlando Regional Spelling Bee
  • 03/01/22 - Deadline to notify SNSB of district bee/regional qualifier champions
  • 05/29-06/3 - Top speller advances to 2022 SNSB in Maryland

Does the winner of the Orlando Regional Spelling Bee advance to the 2022 Scripps National Spelling Bee in Maryland?

  • Yes, Orlando City Soccer Club will provide the opportunity for one (1) student, the Orlando Regional Spelling Bee champion, to advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Is there a fee to participate?

  • The registration fee is $175 per school, with no additional fees to participate in the Orlando Regional Spelling Bee. $175 allows each school to send one (1) student to the district online testing platform to qualify for the Orlando Regional Spelling Bee.

How will I know what words to use at my school’s Spelling Bee?

  • The Scripps National Spelling Bee will provide your school’s contact with a list of words to utilize during your school’s Bee.
