Orlando Pride Provides 2021 Preseason Roster Update

ORLANDO, Fla. (March. 2, 2021) — Now a month into the 2021 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) preseason, the Orlando Pride have made a few updates to its current preseason roster, it was announced today.

Joining the side at the Orlando Pride Training Ground is its latest signee in forward Abi Kim, marking six of seven of the team’s 2020 NWSL College Draft picks to sign a contract with the Club. Former Washington Spirit forward Crystal Thomas has also signed a contract after joining the team earlier in the preseason as a trialist. In addition, the side has welcomed in goalkeeper Gabby English and defender Lauren Silver, both as non-roster invitees.

In the last month, the Pride have also signed forwards Sydney Leroux and Marta to new contracts, the former to a three-year deal through at least the 2023 season and the latter through the 2021 campaign with an option for 2022. In addition, after trading for the rights to midfielder Erika Tymrak, the Club has signed the former Utah Royals FC midfielder to a one-year contract.

Along with Marta, U.S. WNT forward Alex Morgan and Canadian international Jordyn Listro returned to training this week after participating with their respective national teams at the SheBelieves Cup. Morgan, along with U.S. teammates Ashlyn Harris and Ali Krieger, have been allocated by the U.S. for the 2021 NWSL season, with Erin McLeod returning to Canada’s allocation for the first time since 2015. As an allocated player, McLeod no longer occupies an international spot on the Pride roster.

The Pride’s four 2021 NWSL Draft picks — Viviana Villacorta, Mikayla Colohan, Kerry Abello and Kaylie Collins — remain with their respective colleges who are competing in the Spring NCAA season, with the Pride retaining NWSL rights to all four.

The Club is continuing its preparations for April 9 when the second-edition of the NWSL Challenge Cup is set to begin. Following the Challenge Cup, a 24-game regular season will begin on May 15. A complete breakdown of key dates for the 2021 season can be found here
