Key Transactions and Player News 

The most notable losses in the offseason for Minnesota were Darwin Quintero and Vito Mannone. Quintero was shipped off to Houston while Mannone who won MLS Goalkeeper of the Year saw his loan expire. 

Minnesota's splash signing of the offseason was Luis Amarilla from Velez Sarsfield. MNUFC also acquired Tyler Miller from LAFC to offset the loss of Mannone. Another notable acquisition was former City center back Jose Aja. 

The addition of Aja has been important for Minnesota with Ike Opara deciding not to join the club at the MLS is Back Tournament. Aja has played in all five of MNUFC's tournament matches. 

Kevin Molino and Romain Metanire are also questionable as they have been carrying slight hamstring strains. Molino was on the bench for the Quarterfinal win against San Jose but did not appear. Metanire was left off the teamsheet. 


Team Form 

Minnesota reached the knockouts with a win and two draws (4 GF, 3 GA) to finish second in Group D behind Sporting KC. MNUFC then sent Columbus packing on penalties in the Round of 16 and dismantled San Jose 4-1 to reach the Semifinals. 
 

Head-to-Head

All-time, City is 0-2-1 against Minnesota. Last year's meeting ended 1-1 at Allianz Field.

City has scored twice against Minnesota in three previous meetings. Both goals came from the spot. Yoshi Yotun in 2018 and Luis Nani in 2019.

September 11, 2020: Major League Soccer has announced the 2020 regular season schedule through the end of September. From September 18-27, each MLS club will compete in three regular season matches. Additional 2020 MLS regular season matches will be announced pending further developments regarding travel protocols. Attendance at matches will be determined in accordance with applicable state and local guidelines.
