Orlando City SC Waives Defender Jonathan Dean

ORLANDO, Fla. (Feb. 24, 2020) - Orlando City SC has waived second round MLS SuperDraft pick Jonathan Dean ahead of the 2020 Major League Soccer (MLS) season, the Club announced today. 

Dean, a product out of the University of Central Florida, was selected by the Lions at No. 39 overall in the second round of the 2020 MLS SuperDraft in January. 

The Lions will open their sixth MLS campaign on Saturday, Feb. 29 at Exploria Stadium, set to host Real Salt Lake at 6 p.m. ET.

UPDATE: March 19, 2020 - In accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidance to postpone events involving more than 50 people over the next eight weeks, Major League Soccer has extended the postponement of its matches during this period of time. MLS remains focused on playing the entire 2020 season and is evaluating all options, including pushing back the end of the season and playing MLS Cup in December, as the league did prior to the 2019 season. The league is also identifying other available dates.
