City returns home after its first road test in Chicago to welcome the Montreal Impact on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. The Lions will be looking to get in the win column after two draws to open the season, while Montreal wants to bounce back from a 2-1 loss last weekend in Houston.
Matteo Mancosu and Jeisson Vargas were the key pieces that left this offseason in Montreal. Overall, Montreal saw 14 names depart while only adding six pieces. Orji Okwonkwo was added on loan and Maxi Urruti acquired via trade with Dallas to replace the departed Mancosu. Montreal also acquired talented young defender Zachary Brault-Guillard on loan from Lyon.
No surprise, Ignacio Piatti has already scored once in Montreal's first two games but the big surprise early has been Saphir Taïder who has grabbed a goal in each of the Impact's first two matches and has added one assist.
It's a small sample size to work from, but Montreal sits on three points with a win and a loss so far in 2019.
Orlando City is 3-5-2 all-time against Montreal. City holds a 2-2-1 record against the French Canadians at home. Montreal has had the upper hand between the two sides in the last two seasons with three wins and a draw.
