Know Your Opponent: Chicago Fire

KTE Chicago 2

In the middle of a challenging stretch of their schedule, the Lions will travel to Chicago this Saturday to face the Fire for the first time since that thrilling scoreless draw at home just a few weeks ago. The Fire remain one of the top teams in the East, but the Lions will look to build off their big point in Seattle and climb the standings.

Recent Matches

The Chicago Fire are undefeated in their last five matches, having won every game in their last five matches with the exception of their draw against the Lions on June 4th. They have only three losses so far this season, and are undefeated in the months of May and June. But the Lions will be looking to change that narrative.

Who’s Hot

Nemanja Nikolic continues to lead the league in goals with 13 goals in 16 matches so far this year. And he’s just one piece of what is arguably one of the strongest offenses in the league this season. The Fire have a host of offensive players that have proven they can produce-- including Nikolic, Luis Solignac, and David Accam.

Head-To-Head

Orlando City earned a draw against the Fire earlier this season, holding off the strong Chicago offense despite losing two players to red cards. Across Orlando’s previous two seasons, and their first matchup this year, the Lions have never lost to the Fire. Orlando’s overall record against Chicago is 2-0-4.
