Interview with the Artist
How would you describe your art style?
I don't know what my art style would be. But I enjoy mixing photography with other elements. And making sure there is a good amount of white space is important in almost everything I do.
How long did it take to complete this piece? What is your art process?
This piece took about 4 hours to complete. I worked on it for an hour a day. My process for a poster, is to sketch variations of layouts. Then to commit to one of the sketches and go from there. A poster can look a million different ways. Committing is important. Then I refine until I finish the piece.
What was the largest piece you've ever painted?
The largest piece I've ever painted was a 24"x36" canvas. I painted an Astronaut using Krink markers. Nothing crazy, but definitely fun.
Where are you from?
I was born in Antofagasta, Chile. Then moved to Orlando at the age of 5. I have been here ever since.
What does it mean to you to be a part of the growing art culture in Orlando?
It means a lot, I love Orlando. I have been here since 1998 so I've seen the growth as a little kid. Creating a piece for my city is always a great feeling.
How did you get into art?
As a kid, my dad would always draw planes and then he would ask me to try and draw the same plane. Before I knew it, I was signing up for all the art classes in school and buying those "How to draw Dragon Ball Z" books at the book fair.
