City Remains In Striking Distance of Top Power Rankings

power rankings post rsl 2018

After making club history with a 3-1 win over Real Salt Lake stretching the win streak to six, the Lions are eyeing their seventh win in a row with a visit from Atlanta on Sunday. The Lions moved up one spot to number six in the ESPN power rankings and actually moved back one spot to number seven on MLSsoccer.com's power rankings.

Here is what both websites had to say:

ESPN
City made history this past weekend with a sixth straight win. Another second-half comeback win sparked by Dom Dwyer and Yoshimar Yotún led the Lions to three unanswered goals and helped clinch history. ESPN took notice and deemed that worthy of a move up the rankings by one spot. The league's longest winning streak counts for something.

Meanwhile, in MLS land, they're not as impressed by the league-leading win streak the Lions are currently on. Now that they're starting to get contributions from all over the field, the Lions could be set to post up near the top of the Eastern Conference standings for the long haul as the boys take on Atlanta on Sunday. If the boys get a win, maybe the MLSsoccer.com crew will start to believe the process.
