USMNT Set To Take On Portugal in Lisbon

In their first match since the disappointing result against Trinidad and Tobago, the U.S. Men’s National Team will face the Portugal National team in the country's capital, Lisbon. Under new interim manager Dave Sarachan, the U.S. look to start the rebuilding process after Head Coach Bruce Arena resigned following the team’s last match.

This game signifies an influx of youth into the roster. Where veterans like Clint Dempsey, Jozy Altidore and Michael Bradley have been, instead Sarachan has called in players like 18-year-old Tyler Adams from the New York Red Bulls, 19-year-old Weston McKennie from Schalke 04 in Germany and 17-year-old striker Josh Sargent, who plays for an academy team in Missouri.

14 of the 21 players called up are 26 years of age or younger, making this one of the youngest rosters in recent times. Players who have not been called up recently, like defender Matt Miazga and midfielder Danny Williams, will get their opportunities to work their way back into the National Team picture, while players like Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jesse Gonzales look to earn their first cap with the national team after being called up before.

Making his return to the roster is Orlando City forward Dom Dwyer. The Lions striker was called up for the first time during the summer and the Gold Cup, scoring two goals in three games played. After his trade from Sporting Kansas City to Orlando, this will mark the first time he has been called up while being an Orlando City player.

Portugal will be without two of their best players as they face the U.S. for the first time since the 2014 World Cup. Both Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani will not be on the roster for this round, however, the team still has dangerous players like Bernardo Silva from Manchester City and André Silva from Milan. Both players are expected to have a vast impact for the team come Tuesday.

The match is set to kick off in Portugal at 3:30 ET on Fox Sports 1 as the U.S look for their first win against Portugal since 1990 and their first result in Portugal since 1980.
