Orlando Prepared for Potent Portland Timbers Attack

Portland Attack

The final game in Orlando City’s four game road trip lands across the country in Portland, where the Lions will take on the Timbers in a Sunday evening matchup. Orlando, coming off a 3-3 draw with Atlanta United, will look to carry their offensive momentum into their away match against a very good Timbers team.

As the team prepares to play the second best team in the Western Conference, Head Coach Jason Kreis believes that the team’s game against Atlanta has prepared them well for Portland. With the crowd atmosphere, play style and travel taking into consideration, the similarities all play out well for the Lions’ preparation for this coming weekend.

“I think the really nice thing about playing Portland right now is that it's very similar to Atlanta,” Kreis said, “Portland's Valeri is similar to Atlanta's Almiron. Both want to occupy very similar spaces, both are looking for the ball in the same sorts of areas, both a very lethal and have the ball at their foot. So I think that we will be fully prepared.”

The team headed out to Portland early to get a jump on training in the area, before they play on Sunday at 8:00 ET. The game will also be nationally televised on Fox Sports 1.
