Youth Soccer Showcase To Be Held In Conjunction With 2017 Women's College Cup In Orlando

INDIANAPOLIS (September 6, 2017) --- The NCAA and the Orlando City Youth Soccer Club, along with the Central Florida Sports Commission will host the NCAA Women’s College Cup Youth Showcase during the 2017 Women’s College Cup (Dec. 1-3) in Orlando, Florida. 


“We are excited to introduce the showcase to the Orlando area as part of the initiative exposing youth to an NCAA championship,” said NCAA director of championships and alliances Jeff Jarnecke. “We’re looking forward to the possibilities and opportunities that come with hosting a youth soccer event in conjunction with the NCAA Women’s College Cup.”


The showcase is open to competitive girl’s premier and elite club teams (Under-15 through U-19), with games being played at the Seminole Soccer Complex in Sanford, Florida. The format of the event will consist of a three-day tournament, where each team will play three games.  


“We are thrilled that the NCAA has chosen Orlando City Youth Soccer Club to host the NCAA Women’s Soccer College Cup showcase in conjunction with the NCAA Women’s College Cup,” said Orlando City Youth Soccer Club General Manager, Laura Halfpenny. “Our community offers much to the coaches, teams, families and spectators and we look forward to welcoming players and their respective teams from around the nation to showcase their skills and talents as well as providing the opportunity to watch the nation’s top women’s soccer student-athletes, many of whom they wish to emulate.”

The presence of youth soccer is continuously expanding thanks to opportunities such as this,” said Central Florida Sports Commission’s Interim President and CEO Jason Siegel. “We look forward to working with the NCAA and continuing our longstanding partnership with Orlando City Youth Soccer Club and Seminole County.” 


In addition to the three-game showcase, each team will be recognized on the field at Orlando City Stadium during the College Cup and will receive tickets to both the semifinals and national championship game.
