ORLANDO, Fla. (August 25, 2017) - Orlando City SC announces the launch of a new Club-run Youth Affiliate Program and signs South Orlando Soccer Club as its first affiliate.
For these partnerships, Orlando City SC will provide on-field coaching and coaches’ education for competitive and recreational programs, creating a direct pathway for the most talented players to the Orlando City U.S Soccer Federation Development Academies for both boys and girls—and ultimately to the professional teams.
“South Orlando has experienced significant growth over its 11-year history,” said Lou Ferris VP of South Orlando. “Partnering with Orlando City allows us to continue this incredible growth and provide the highest level of recreational and competitive soccer training and coaching for our players.”
“This relationship will yield benefits for young players and expand our footprint in Central Florida,” added Niki Budalic, general manager for Orlando City SC. “We will help South Orlando continue generating the best opportunities for young players interested in growing their soccer skills at all levels in our community.”
South Orlando Soccer Club was established in 2006 by a group of locals dedicated to creating a positive soccer program for the families of South Orlando. The organization generates activities for all people with interest in learning, training and participating in organized soccer activities including camps, team events, training, competitions and tournaments. Currently, the program is home to 1,110-plus male and female youth players.
“We have a great foundation for soccer and our programs along with this collaboration will offer these players an elevated experience to develop and grow in their own communities,” added Brian Hoffman, President of South Orlando Soccer Club.
South Orlando will continue to wear their existing uniform and logo and be managed by their Board and Club Officers.
