Dwyer will wear jersey number 18 for the Lions - the same number City’s record goal-scorer, Kevin Molino wore. The new Lions striker has his eye on that record.
Dwyer was the 16th overall pick in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft. Part of the Generation adidas program, the England international came into the League with great promise.
Orlando City acquired Dwyer from Sporting KC in exchange for $400,000 in General Allocation Money and $500,000 in Targeted Allocation Money, plus up to $700,000 in future Allocation Money based on the player’s performance. The deal was worth a total of $1.6 million.
Dom Dwyer’s 57 MLS regular season goals are the fourth-most in the League since he was drafted in 2012. The trend over the course of his career suggests the striker is just now entering his prime years.
