Dwyer Brings Goals And Competitiveness To Orlando City

Dwyer Story Augie

Earlier today Orlando City SC CEO Alex Leitao formally announced the signing of Dom Dwyer from Sporting KC. Among many other things, Dwyer’s presence at the Club, according to head coach Jason Kreis, will freshen things up for a City team in need of points.

“Any time you add new pieces and new competition in any position it livens the group up a little bit and it freshens the group a little bit,” Kreis said today after City’s training session. “We feel like first and foremost we need it just from a talent and depth perspective, but also a little bit of an emotional push would be nice as well.”

An emotional push might be what gets Orlando City out of this slump. That, and goals.

This is an issue that Jason Kreis, his coaching staff, and the Orlando City front office are clearly aware of. And they addressed that today.

Not only does Dwyer bring elite goal scoring ability to the squad, he brings competition to the forward position. Competition fuels performance and, as Kreis put it, “livens the group.”
