Break Over, MLS Teams Return To Action This Week

mls is back gold cup break over 2017

MLS regular season play resumes this Wednesday - and weā€™re thrilled.

After the two week recess in play due to Gold Cup competition, NYCFC and Toronto FC will headline a full slate of MLS matches https://matchcenter.mlssoccer.com/schedule on Wednesday evening. These Eastern Conference juggernauts face off at Yankee Stadium in a match carrying significant playoff implications.

With the first half of 2017ā€™s MLS season in the books, inter-conference matches now become even more critical if teams want to finish in the top six and qualify for the MLS Playoffs.

Orlando City SC hosts the solo MLS match this Friday night. All eyes will be watching the Lions take on Atlanta United for the first time in history.

This match should be a cracker. Both teams will be fresh. Having had two full weeks to prepare, Jason Kreis will have closely analyzed his squad options to field Orlando Cityā€™s strongest side possible to beat Atlanta in what feels like a must-win game at home.

For Kreis and Orlando City, the Gold Cup break gave the team a chance to look inward and find the form which saw the Lions win six of their first seven games while conceding just five goals.

It will be an action packed weekend in Major League Soccer with another full slate of matches on Saturday. Followed up by Western Conference showdowns between Vancouver and Portland, then Seattle and San Jose on Sunday night.
