Will Johnson and Jonathan Spector Reflect On Childhood Friendship

Johnson Spector

Recently, Will Johnson and Jonathan Spector spoke to Mackenzie Thirkill on “Show w/ No Name.” In the interview, theydiscussed their friendship that started when they played soccer together during their youth in Chicago.

That’s right. Johnson and Spector grew up together. They didn’t go to the same high school, and Spector is about a year older, but the two men were in a group of MLS players that crossed paths as kids growing up in Chicago.

“Michael Bradley and I went to the same high school actually,” Spector said. “So, Michael and I know each other well to and you [Johnson] obviously played with him a lot, all kind of Chicago guys. And Mike McGee is another guy who was at that same club. So, we had quite a few players come out of Chicago from that club and we all kind of knew each other growing up.”

“It’s another guy that you know, you know what he’s about, know obviously that he knows how to compete and be successful,” Johnson said.

Being reunited at Orlando City has been nice for Johnson and Spector. They live just down the street from each other and they carpool together to training. Both players have children around the same age who go to the same school. And obviously they have had success together on the field after a strong start to the season for the Lions.
