ORLANDO, Fla. (January 25, 2017) - Orlando City B has added another attacking threat with its signing of U.S. youth national team forward Joe Gallardo to a United Soccer League (USL) contract for the 2017 season, pending USL and federation approval.

“We think Joe will play a big role on our team this season,“ Lions General Manager Niki Budalic said. “Joe has excelled at each level he’s played at and we’re excited to see his continued development this season.”

The 19-year-old signed with OCB after scoring three goals in seven appearances for Orlando City’s U-17/18 Pro Academy in 2016. Most recently, Gallardo helped City’s U-17/18 Pro Academy team rise to No. 1 in the country with a hat-trick in a 5-3 win over Weston FC.

“Joe signing to OCB is a great reflection of the competitive level and the quality of the coaches in our Pro Academy,” OCB Head Coach Anthony Pulis said. “I look forward to Joe helping our team this season.”

The San Diego, Calif., native has appeared with the U.S. U-15, U-17 and U-19 national teams. Gallardo notched four goals and three assists in 2014 with the U.S. U-17 squad. Gallardo previously spent time with Mexican side Monterrey’s academy.

OCB will play its 2017 USL season in the Club’s new downtown stadium.
