Alex Morgan Scores Twice in USA’s Olympic Warmup

Whether in Orlando Pride purple or in the USA’s red, white, and blue, Alex Morgan is scoring with great consistency. On Thursday night, when the USA took on Japan, that continued.

Trailing by two in the 27th minute, Morgan opened the scoring for the United States. A nice ball in from Mallory Pugh found Morgan in space on the near post and she finished with power past goalkeeper Ayaka Yamashita.

In the second half, Morgan found the equalizer. It was a brilliantly executed set piece as Tobin Heath found a charging Morgan who headed the ball off the keeper and into the net.

The goal was Alex Morgan’s fifth in her last four international appearances.

The USWNT will face off against Japan again on June 5th to conclude the international break. The game will be broadcast on ESPN at 12:30 pm ET.
