Orlando City Seeks To Hone Defensive Shape In Preseason Opener

Defensive Shape

Orlando City left it all on the pitch during their last training session before their preseason opener against Jacksonville Armada FC. The players were all smiles as they talked about preparing for the game up north. “It’ll be good,” said left back Luke Boden.

Coming into the game, Orlando City is hoping to hone its tactical skills. “I think we’re still getting better with the fitness,” said Kevin Alston. “There’s definitely more of a focus on formational stuff.”

Orlando City has always had a strong attack, and while that is still a point of emphasis moving forward, the focus leading up to this preseason match has been on the defense. “We’re trying to work on our defensive shape,” defender Rafael Ramos said. “We’re working as much as we can on it and I think we’re getting better.”

“I say to our players every time we play I expect us to win,” Coach Adrian Heath said. “And I always say, if it’s important to our supporters, it should be important to us.”
